Article from The Denver Post (http://www.denverpost.com/): Posted on January 19, 2012 by Suzanne S. Brown.

It should be so easy to find the perfect button-down shirt. All you're asking for is good fabric, a nice fit, seams that are pucker-free and buttons that don't fall off before you even get home from the store, right?

So why is it that if you're a woman, the shirt inevitably gaps at the bustline, and if you're a guy, the sleeves or neck never really fit just so? Then there are the issues of cleaning: When the shirt shrinks, those dreaded puckers pop up, the garment is a wrinkled mess after drying, and the color fades — or if white, yellows.

Clothing designers and manufacturers have thrown themselves at this issue, and we're happy to report that there have been improvements lately on a number of these fronts.

Props in the women's department go first and foremost to Rochelle Behrens, a Washington, D.C.-based lobbyist who turned her attention to matters of clothing after tiring of the dreaded bustline gap she had in her daily uniform of suits worn with button-down shirts. The product she introduced a year ago, The Shirt (the-shirt.com), has several hidden buttons on the placket that keep the blouse fastened, an invention both simple and ingenious. There are 10 buttons on her designs, compared with seven or eight on a normal woman's shirt. The Shirt became a big hit after being touted by Oprah Winfrey as a "must-have" for 2011, and retailers like Molly's of Denver are carrying the designs, which sell for about $95. "It's not the most expensive shirt we sell, but it's very popular because women like the fit," says store owner Molly Broeren.

"L'Air de Rien" Press Release - Fall 11

Image:

There’s something about those super elegant Parisian women! They have an inimitable chic that makes you ponder.

You can’t help but stare as they walk by on a prestigious right-bank shopping street. The look is hard to pinpoint- they make it seem so effortless, yet it’s the particular look of the privileged few - polished, timeless, and perfect.

This season, we dedicate our collection to that simply, impec- cably put-together woman, and to the French idiom that says it all - “L’air de rien”.

“L’air de rien” roughly translates to: “looks as if it were nothing”, and is the perfect description for such effortless chic.

Our Fall collection is our most timeless and luxurious ever, true investment pieces for the keeping.

We hope you appreciate the unpretentious beauty of our world-class fabrics and sleek, simple silhouettes, and that you can employ these pieces for a little “L’air de rien” of your own!

During my recent travels, I got the idea to share some of my favorite finds from around the world. The concept was not to design one category of product, but rather to bring to the market great and striking pieces whenever I found things I loved - be it bags, scarves or tribal beads!

For Fall 2011, I'm offering a small range of luxurious scarves I did in collaboration with a renowned mill in Lake Como, Italy. We combed through their archives and found magnificent vintage patterns to coordinate with our Craig Taylor shirts.

The European women know how to work their scarves, and as the inspiration for our Craig Taylor collection is that effortless, yet so well put together woman, we just couldn't resist. The French actually have a name for that look, and it's “L'air de rien”, which
roughly translates to “looks as if it were nothing”. It's classic, and timeless and it never goes out of style.

You have to feel these scarves to experience the luxurious hand, and then effortlessly throw one on, to add some instant chic to your “L'air de rien”.
